Hide and Secret - Treasure Of The Ages
by: Sammy D.
A pictures worth a thousand hidden objects!
Bad news, the Treasure Of The Ages has been stolen! The evil villains Jacques along with his henchman Toadie are responsible. And unfortunately for us he plans to harness the treasures mystical power to rule the world. Not good. So, it is imperative that you help Will Scout and Anna Lyze on their quest to defeat Jacques and recover the treasures. It won't be easy but if you are able to follow the clues and escape Jacque's sinister traps you will be able to find his secret base where he has taken the treasure. No pressure but the world is counting on you. :)
The game starts off with a story board like display along with the characters voices to narrate the story. It sets up the scenario described above and walks you thru the first scene. If you haven't played a game like this before basically you will have a list of items to find and a set amount of time to find all of the items in the list. If you start random clicking or clicking on the wrong item to many times in a row you will get a time penalty. One nice feature that helps with re-playability of this game is that each time you play a room the items you need to find changes. However, once you know what an item looks like your eye can spot it a little quicker the next time it's on the list.
Each area can take some time to find all the objects and some can be quite challenging to find. What amazes me is how many times you may struggle to find an item only to realize moments latter that it was right in front of you the whole time! If you do get stuck though there are three hints but you should definitely use them wisely. The number of items you need to find and the difficulty of the levels progress at a nice rate as to keep things challenging. Once you have collected all the items you are treated to more of the story line. I found the characters to be very likable and enjoyed their commentary along the way. The voice acting left just a little to be desired but was more then good enough as to not distract you from the game. You definitely want to finish an area to see what happens next.
Overall I found the game a lot of fun to play. The story line is set up really nice and works perfectly with this type of game play. The graphics are also of nice quality and quantity. The control of the game is just a simple click but it is very accurate which is important as you don't want to accidentally click on the wrong item and be penalized.
I did installed on both a Windows Vista PC and an XP machine and both worked flawless. Nothing to report here. :)
So whether you're new to this genre or a long time fan I don't think you will be disappointed with this game. However, I did have to mark the replay down a little because once you have finished the game, know the story, are very familiar with all the items in the game, even though each time you play a room it will change it's just not the same as the first time.
Until next time,
